Happy 3 Months Anniversary, NYC!

11:00 pm Life, New York City

Today marks my 3rd month as an official resident of New York City.

What can I say? I love this place more and more with each passing day.

I started off this morning with a meeting, in volunteer services, at Mt. Sinai. I’m excited to report that I’m going to be involved in their Child Life Program. Apparently, Troy Aikman and Garth Brooks funded the start of this amazing organization to help kids better understand their illnesses and achieve a sense of normalcy when they are hospitalized. They have state-of-the-art equipment for the kids in the hospital including a mini-TV station where the kids can produce mini-TV programs.  Every single kid has their own flat screen TV in their room so they can call in to the shows and interact with whatever is going on. It’s totally interactive and amazing.   I’ll definitely be keeping you guys posted.

Later on, I met my teaching partner, Jessica, at Alice’s Tea Cup to plan for next week. Instead, we ended up drinking lots of yummy teas and chatting for two hours. So…basically…we are not ready for next week.

Then last-minute, Randall and I went to get our hair cut. I’ve been wanting to get a haircut for a while now as my bangs were starting to impair my vision. We walked in around 6-ish and found out that they only had room for one person at 7:30. However, they had an apprentice who could give a free haircut at 8:00. They said the apprentice would be under supervision. The end result was…me at 7:30 and Randall the Brave at 8:00. We went to grab a quick bite to eat. He was a bit anxious but the clincher was when we went back to the salon and they handed Randall some magazines, with trendy Japanese hairstyles, to choose from…such as…

…OH BOY!! The haircut started around 8. The apprentice kept snipping away more and more hair.  As far as supervision goes…it was pretty much non-existent.  My haircut ended by approximately 8:40-ish. I was happy to be able to see again.  Let’s just say, Randall’s haircut ended at 9:30. It was shorter than expected but overall, everything was even and it looked good.

What can I say, another day of adventures and accomplishments in this great city.
