Blast the shofar…it’s Rosh Hashanah!
September 29, 2008 10:20 pm GeneralI get the next two days off from school for Rosh Hashanah. This is quite a change for me as I’m used to celebrating Cesar Chavez, Cinco de Mayo, 50 Cent’s album releases and every now and then, a school lock-down.
My goals, by Thursday, are too…
- Straighten out my salary situation. Apparently, they had hired me in on a certain salary scale but I just found out tonight that for some reason, they now have me on a different salary scale where I’m getting paid $12K less than what was originally promised me. (If they don’t fix this, either expect me back in CA by the end of the month or come watch me play my didgeridoo on the southwest corner of Union Square.
- Go swimming! I’m going to wake up early enough to get to the pool before the senior citizens get to it.
- Bake! I’ve been craving carrot cake for quite some time now but just haven’t had the time to really gather all the ingredients together. Grating carrots can be quite time-consuming.
- Catch up on correcting/grading papers. Seriously, everything we do in class is multiplied by 20. Let’s see…with six different subjects each day, that puts me close to 120-something assignments to look over…now multiply that by approximately a week and a half.
- Go read in Central Park…(in other words, scope out a heavy-traffic location where I may potentially be performing my gigs during my Union Square off-days)
Then it’s back for a full day of school on Thursday and a half-day on Friday. Whew! What a crazy week this will be!

I haven’t been able to read blogs for a few weeks now so I’m really behind on yours.
But omg, I really hope they fix your salary situation. That just sucks.
