Happy Hump Day!

10:40 pm Random Thoughts, School

We had Back-2-School night tonight.  This was definitely a first where more than half of my student’s parents actually showed up.  I have to say that I’d rather have over-bearing parents who care too much about their kids than parents who are non-existent and don’t give a crap about their kids (aka majority of the parents of my students back in Lawndale).

I miss speaking Mandarin.

It’s weird to go from speaking Mandarin every day for the past four years to once in a while now.  I’ve been listening to Chinese songs practically every single day on youtube, my iPod, to the Asian man who plays the Yang-Qin in the subway if I’m lucky.  Whenever I hear people speaking Mandarin, my ears perk up.  Sometimes I get the urge to jump into their conversations but then they’d just think that I was 瘋狂 (crazy).

Maybe I should hire a Mandarin conversationalist to talk to.

Hope you’re enjoying life out there in the big city!
